This three story courtyard house, designed by Steven Ehrlich, FAIA, interplays with the hillside at its rear. The canyon wall forms a natural protective barrier against the city, while the upper levels of the house offer access to light and canyon views. Each story has a garden terrace, the upper two reached via bridges leading from the second and third floors. The courtyard fa~ade of the house is a wall of glass, linking level to level and indoors with outdoors. The design reverses the usual order with the bedrooms forming a platform for the second and third story public areas, where skylights and the extensive use of openings bring in light and breeze.
